Application Support Specialist Job Descriptions :

To support the application portfolio locally and regionally
To provide in-dept support for specific applications within the application portfolio with the related departments
To understand the needs and problems and application workflows
To diagnose problems, define and co-ordinate the implementation of solutions individually and with other team members regionally
To develop a broad knowledge and understanding of technology and business related items in order to identify and prioritise issues and their solution.
To keep in close relationships with the business users and follow up problems with them to ensure problem resolution and ensure appropriate feedback
To understand the problems as the user point of view and interpret them into the specific technical problem
To be the contact person to the user and related departments in ensuring issues important to the users are identified and addressed or re-directed to the appropriate area
To proactively seek out and repair system inconsistencies as well as provide trouble-shooting assistance and solutions for production problems
To develop effective lines of communication with customers, infrastructure support and other departments within IT
To develop and implement tools to maintain, monitor and troubleshoot all applications and infrastructure, automating where applicable
To plan and coordinate system releases, create and maintain documentation for training, trend analysis and troubleshooting.


Job Requirements :

Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience with strong technical emphasis and logical thinking and problem solving
Excellent working knowledge in Unix, Sun Solaris(Unix Scripting, System Admin command), Oracle 10g, PL/SQL, Sybase, MQ, Java, C++, Windows Server 2003 knowledge
Those working in Financial Institution with FX and MM products will be an advantage
Excellent communication and written skills to communicate all levels locally and regionally
Enjoy working in a multi-cultural environment
Able to work under pressure with minimum supervision
Be a team player to achieve goals efficiently
