Responsibilities
The Analyst will be required to work closely with scientific business partners and software developers
Building prototypes and ‘proofs of concepts' to investigate possible solutions to Discovery Business problems in a technologically focused way
Investigate new IT technologies, pilot them for potential use in the discovery world
Provide software architecture and development guidance and expertise.
Review external markets, competitors and potential vendors looking for new IT solutions to address current gaps and needs.
Act as a troubleshooter to help the Discovery IT community solve difficult technical problems.
Act as a consultant to handover potential solutions to solution delivery teams explaining concepts and possible solutions.
Requirements
Candidate should have at least a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related discipline with 5 years of working experience
Analyst with excellent technical analysis skills; extensive hands-on experience of a wide range of technologies used for information processing; experience in Project Management - the candidate will be involved in Project lifecycles, requiring interaction with clients and designers
The right individuals will have a strong combination of soft skills and high-level technical analysis experience
Experience in Dot.Net coding, application design and open source web technologies are required
Strong knowledge of Object Oriented development techniques in Dot.Net
Knowledge of database tools, data architecture designs and patterns
Knowledge of Operating Systems - Microsoft and Linux
Ability to learn new technologies, along with an innovative mind-set
Ability to work in a distributed development environment across multiple time zones
