Trust Lawyer - Singapore - 17481 With an integrated network of global offices and multicultural team members and clients, this company is seeking a trust lawyer to join their team.

Based in Singapore, the role will involve frequent travel to Asia Pacific countries for business development purposes, with occasional trips to the European regions.

As well as the direct reporting line(s), regular contact is required with other group officers and branch managers on a group-wide basis, and with clients and relevant external service providers.

Overall objectives of the role:

To market and sell common law trust/Singapore trust services in the Asia Pacific region, and Singapore trust services globally
To assist in the development of Singapore trust services and the establishment of a Singapore trustee company
To act as a relationship manager to certain trust clients


Main duties will include the following:

Handling marketing, selling and set-up of trusts to Asia Pacific and other clients
Co-ordinating the process of drafting trust deeds and related establishment documents
Responsibility for all Singapore legal matters and management of Singapore trusts
Handling client requests for post-establishment services and the passing of those requests to trustee offices in New Zealand and elsewhere
Fully understanding clients’ activities and ensuring that any action taken is consistent with the client entity’s activities and purposes within the legal and economic framework for the entity
Obtaining additional work from clients as well as referrals to new clients
Helping to develop, market and promote new and existing products and services
Ensuring that, subsequent to establishment, all required agreements and documents are prepared and client files are complete
Solving payment issues and collecting outstanding invoices
Ensuring that know-your-customer rules are adhered to, and that any clients operate within the relevant legal and regulatory framework
Screening of new clients and new operations for compliance purposes
Communication with trust clients in person and via phone and email


From time to time, the incumbent will be required to undertake, with the agreement of the managing director, other duties to accomplish specific projects.

Candidates should:

-- Be qualified as a lawyer, preferably with Asian trust experience; and some common law trust experience would be beneficial

-- Have at least two years of post-qualification experience, preferably in a trust-related area and/or the financial services sector and, ideally, international exposure

-- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills

-- Have excellent written and verbal skills in English; knowledge of Mandarin and/or another language would be a plus

-- Be commercial/business-development aware

-- Be a client- and service-focused individual

-- Be flexible and creative, with a willingness to travel

-- Be committed to success in the position

Be a team player and able to function without close supervision
Be computer literate
