This role is performed by technical professionals who specialize in providing perform enterprise services to clients on hardware and software components for Windows servers. Activities include operation and maintenance of Windows operating systems, storage and backup solutions, antivirus servers. These servers are installed with middleware applications, various database technologies, high availability solutions and load balancing.
Job responsibilities for this role includes, but are not limited to, the following: operation and maintenance of operating systems and platform support, database administration, capacity planning, performance management, security compliance. Support is also provided for systems management tools which monitor the operational status of the environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• System installation, configurations and testing for Windows Server OS ranging from NT, Win2K & Win2003
• Systems upgrading;
• Perform systems change requests;
• Security hardening and patching according to client or client's security policies;
• Systems administration, maintenance, backup/restore, performance tuning;
• Creation and maintenance of technical documentation;
• Handle 3rd level escalation from Helpdesk or deskside team;
• Coordinate with external parties and customers for problem resolution;
• Troubleshoot server related problems to restore services to meet stated SLA/SLO.
Secondary Responsibilities:
• Solution for new Windows services;
• Handle customer relationship;
• Identify, propose & execute improvement initiatives;
• Provide technical inputs to business proposals
Primary Skills Required:
• Diploma/ Degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related field;
• At least 3 years of proven track records in setup, support and troubleshooting in Windows Server OS ranging from NT, Win2K & Win2003 ;
• At least 1 year of experience in MS Active Directory & MS Clustering;
• Experienced in other OS related topics eg. DHCP, DNS, Proxy etc ;
• Experienced in various backup software i.e. Arcserve, Netbackup, Backupexec and TSM
• Experienced in various antivirus software i.e. Symantec, Trend Micro etc
• Technical certifications in MS OS eg. MCSE 2000 or MCSE 2003;
• Experienced in a vendor environment with front-end interaction with customers ;
• Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision;
• Must be able to perform well under stressful situations
• Full of initiatives and energy;
• Excellent in communication skills (both verbal and written);
• Required to work long hours (including the weekends and public holidays), and on 24 x 7 standby;
• Tactful, pleasant personality, a team player.
Secondary "Good To Have" skills
• Proven track records in implementation and support for Critix server, VMware or MOM
• Strong team management skill
• Experienced in Blade Server and Director software
Candidates with very strong technical skills and have worked in an enterprise environment or with at least 3 years working in a similar work function and working environment will be highly recommended.
