Singapore - Development Team Lead

Development Team Lead Post Date: 01 Jun 09The Single General Ledger ( SGL ) is the collective term given to an established platform to deliver fully reconciled financial and management information reporting to the GBM division of the bank.

SGL captures and processes trading activity in real time ( and on a batch basis ) across the bank generating accounting events for position management and other reporting (i.e. operational, P&L, statutory, regulatory). The system produces thousands of reports on a daily basis, and has several thousand users.

The architecture summarily comprises :
•bespoke Trades Data Warehouse ( Sybase 12.5.3 ) to capture and rationalise trade information by batch and in real time;
•bespoke Static Data Mart ( Sybase 12.5.3 ) to provide golden source static for enrichment purposes;
•vendor based OST ( v5.20 ) accounting rules engine to convert trade events to account postings;
•vendor based Oracle Financials ( 11.5.9 ) to consolidate reporting information to a chart of accounts;
•bespoke 2TB Financial Data Mart ( Oracle 9i moving to 10g ) for all reconciliation and reporting;
•a series of bespoke interface and adjustment tools written in Discoverer Reports, C#, Powerbuilder, Oracle Application Express.

The Finance Technology department is responsible for all support and change related activity within the Finance business division.

The team has a London base with local support staff in Hong Kong and Singapore and development staff in Delhi. Change activity is split into two components – KSOR which involves core change and small investment pieces.

•Lead the development of global strategic solutions on SGL like Kondor + to SGL
•Lead the development on the enhancement of local solutions
•Lead the development of tactical solutions on SGL if required by the project team
•Lead the team that provides development for Finance Applications used across Product Control, Financial Control, Finance Global Services and other areas in Asia Finance.
•Cement the relationship, and built responsibility between the IDC change function and Singapore business function.
•Identify business priorities and handle them in a more efficient way
•Establish and manage a customer relationship with key business customer groups in Finance
•\Work closely with the production support team to ensure smooth transition of new systems/releases into production
•Work closely with Program Delivery team to deliver development for projects.
•Work with business analyst and technical experts as required to deliver work to time and budget.
•Develop front to back knowledge of SGL environment in the development team

Along with a degree, you should have at least 10 years experience in a 1st tier investment bank and have solid knowledge of Finance Systems and Architecture. Strong management skills and a sense of ownership with a passion for Finance/Risk and associated technologies. Excellent written and oral English communications skills. Detailed banking product knowledge and the related accounting would be beneficial. High level of motivation and be able to demonstrate initiative and flexibility. Strong PL/SQL and/or Transact SQL experience. Oracle ( no earlier than 9i ) and Sybase ( no earlier than 12.0 ). Experience of working as part of a full project lifecycle. Large scale datawarehousing experience. Experience of working across a distance, working abroad. Highly desired: OWB, Discoverer, Oracle Reports, Powerbuilder, C#, Oracle Application Express, UNIX. Desired: Sharepoint, Visual Basic, Web Development ( D-HTML ), XML, XSL.
